Email addresses

Email is the only contact channel we monitor. Using the address that matches your reason for writing helps your message reach the right inbox faster.

We don't accept postal mail, and we don't take messages through social media.

What to write to us about

  • Corrections. If something we wrote is wrong or out of date (visa fees, app features, product availability), tell us so we can fix it. Our corrections policy explains what happens next.
  • Topic suggestions. A question your relationship keeps running into that we haven't covered well. These are the most useful emails we get.
  • Your story. If you closed the distance, broke up well, or made something work against the odds, we'd like to hear about it. We will never publish anything you send without your explicit permission, and we can leave out names and identifying details.
  • Partnerships. We don't accept payment for placement in editorial guides. For other inquiries, include details about your company and proposal in your first email.
  • Privacy requests. Questions about data or requests to access or delete anything you've sent us. See our privacy policy for what we collect (very little).

How to write a useful message

  • If it's about a specific page, paste the URL and quote the line you're responding to.
  • For a correction, link the source we should be using, ideally an official one.
  • For a topic idea, tell us the exact question you were trying to answer and what you found unhelpful elsewhere.
  • Leave out sensitive personal details we don't need, such as passport numbers, case numbers or full names of other people.

When to expect a reply

We aim to reply to reader mail within a few working days, though busy periods can take longer. Corrections are prioritized. Privacy requests are answered as quickly as we can, and within one month at the latest, in line with the rights described in our privacy policy. Partnership emails may not get a reply if they aren't a fit.

A note on personal advice

We get a lot of "should I stay or should I go?" messages. We read them and we care, but we publish general guidance and can't responsibly weigh in on an individual relationship over email without the full picture. If you're at a hard turning point, our guides on when to break up in a long-distance relationship, red flags in a long-distance relationship and therapy for long-distance couples are the closest thing we have to a thoughtful answer.
